Migrant Flophouse in New City

Residents of New City got a taste of the Democrat solution to the migrant crisis when officials of the village about 40 miles north of Manhattan discovered 31 immigrants crammed into a single-family home.

Acting on a tip, investigators found children sleeping in close quarters on bare mattresses in the 1,500 square-foot home’s unfinished basement, attic, and garage, where overloaded extension cords and a microwave were also found. The migrants were reported to be from Guatemala and Ecuador who entered the “Sanctuary State” through a southern border left open by President Biden.

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann called the three-bedroom home "a migrant flophouse," saying it is an “unfortunate result of the humanitarian and national security crisis that's been sent to our doorsteps. We've never seen a situation this dire.”

According to Hoehmann, it was “some of the most egregious conditions we have ever seen. The electrical system was totally overloaded; extension cords were all over the place. You can see that those are children on those mattresses in the garage,” he said, pointing to photos of the scene. “This would have been an absolute disaster had there been a fire in this house. People would have died here, first responders would have been injured or killed."

The county executive of Rockland County, Ed Day, said he believes the migrants were transported to the area through an "organized enterprise yet to be identified,” suggesting that human trafficking could be at play.

Officials said children were sleeping on mattresses lining the floors in the garage. (Town of Clarkstown) "As a former member of law enforcement, I see this as a form of human trafficking and am calling on the New York Attorney General to thoroughly investigate this matter," he said.

Day sharply criticized New York Mayor Eric Adams for bussing migrants to Rockland with little more than a "courtesy call.”
He added, "While we don’t know if Mayor Adams is behind this, he has lied and deceived municipalities for months and blindsided counties with buses of migrants multiple times.”

Day blamed President Biden's border policies for creating the crisis and lambasted the mayor’s efforts to offload the migrants he invited to the city to other communities.

More than 120,000 migrants took Adams up on his invitation to come to New York, overwhelming his ability to support them. He infamously said the migrant crisis will “destroy New York City” and has sued dozens of municipalities for taking steps to block him from relocating migrants outside of the city. According to Adams, it will cost taxpayers over $12 billion to take care of the migrants over the next two years.
